アリアは甲府市の地場産業（甲州印傳、宝飾、服飾など）の13 社の本社、工場、ギャラリー、コミュニティホールに加え、サンタリア聖教会と迎賓館・結婚式場ヴィラ・エステリオなどがユニークで美しい街区を形成しています。わたし達はこの7haの街区全体の都市基盤の設計から各建物、ランドスケープなど総合的な設計を行いました。異業種交流型の特徴〈コンプレキシティー〉を生かした個性的で活力のあるファクトリータウンとして今までにない画期的な都市を創造しました。周辺環境と調和した連続的なインターフェイスを形成し、開放的なビジターズインダストリーと呼ばれるファクトリーパークが生まれました。機能的な都市計画に加え、ステファヌ＝マラルメの詩などを参照しています。

建築空間に文学的な物語性を与え、都市の心象風景の生成を試みています。その特徴のひとつに、アリアでは敷地境界の塀やフェンスをつくらず、広場や緑道も含めて隣接敷地を横断的に融合するランドスケープデザインによってボーダレスな環境を創出しました。甲府盆地を囲う周辺の山並みを借景として景観に取り込み、自然に開かれた森の都市をつくる自然環境共生型の都市環境を生成しています。敷地全体になだらかなアンジュレーションを与えバリアフリーを確保しながら散策に適した変化のある地形環境をつくりました。アリアは1995年第1期工事が完了し、グッドデザイン賞金賞を受賞、その後も建設が続き2004年ヴィラ・エステリオの竣工によって7ha全体の工事が完成をみました。全国また海外からも多くの見学者や観光客が訪れています。

金箔貼の十字架の向こうに南側の庭が見えます。『甲府の中心地から東へ車で10分ほど走ると、ブドウ畑と商業施設が点在する典型的な山梨の風景の中に、こつ然と現れる「街」がある。アリアという愛称で呼ばれる、様々な業種が集まってできた7haの異業種交流型工業団地で今なお広がりつつある。複数の建物には「星」としてのデザインコンセプトが与えられ、集団となって「星座」を形成することが意図されている。
異国情緒の中で近所に住むご婦人が犬を連れて散歩する姿と、周囲のブドウ畑の農作業者とが混在して、とてもほほえましい印象だ。』

Aria, a building complex located at Kofu-city, Yamanashi, accommodates not only 13 local industry head offices (Koshu inden, jewelry, clothing et al.), factory, gallery and community hall, but also Santaria church and guesthouse wedding hall, “Villa Esterio”, which forms a unique and elegant urban scenery. We were commissioned a total design including urban planning, buildings, and landscaping. As a result, a unique and exquisite urban city was created: a very original and active factory town with “complexity”, emerged from the intercommunication between different types of business. A series of interfaces is matched with the surrounding area and a factory park called “Visitors’ Industry” is opened. Besides exploring the functional urban planning, the verse of Stéphane Mallarmé is referred to in this project.

We attempted to unify the quality of the literature to the architectural space so that the mental image of urban city would be generated. One of characteristics of Aria is the border-less atmosphere engendered by the landscape design which joins the neighborhoods including a plaza and green ways. Applying mountainous scenery around Kofu basin, the urban environment of natural symbiosis model is realized in the forest city. Gentle undulation is given to the whole site to form a barrier-free setting and topographically varied ground suitable for rambling. The first phase of Aria project was completed in 1995, to which the Gold Medal of Good Design Award was bestowed. The whole project with 7 hectare was finished with the completion of Villa Esterio in 20 04. The Area has attracted many visitors and tourists from all over the world.

After 10 minutes ride from the center of Kofu city toward the east, a “town” suddenly appears midst of typical scenery of Yamanashi, where vineyards and commercial buildings are scattered on a vast field. They call it Aria, an industrial complex of various business models, which has been expanding so far. A series of buildings is designed as a group of “stars”, which forms a “constellation”. In a European taste setting, you will be pleasant to find a view of a lady of this town walking with her puppy against the local background of vineyards and farmers in Japanese climate.
