港区立箱根大平台みなと荘 / Hakone Public Rest House of Minato-ku

東京都港区の公立のレストハウスです。延床7,500m²の比較的大きなボリュームが箱根の自然国立公園の自然景観の中に溶け込み調和するために多くの工夫を凝らしています。建築の形態にフラクタルイメージを与え、細かく分節し、深い軒庇の下に微妙に幅や色、形状の異なった木製の縦格子を組み込み周囲の繊細な林の表情に呼応させています。外観、内観ともに木や土、石などの自然素材を用い、自然のリズム感をもった形とし、また敷地全体の自然形質を生かして、建物が地形に沿うように配置しています。美しい自然の景観を損なわないよう、駐車場は斜面を利用した半地下内に収めています。打たせ湯のある露天風呂や大浴場で良質の温泉を楽しむことができます。オペレーションは宮の下の富士屋ホテルが行い、東京の都心の区民が自然環境を満喫しながら静かな時と空間を過ごし憩う場となっています。人気が高くいつも予約が満杯です。

The municipal rest house is owned by Minato-ku, Tokyo. Large volume with 7,500m² space merges into landscape of National Natural Park. Fractal image is given to articulated architectural form. Vertical wooden lattice screen with various elements of size, color and shape is installed under long canopy in accordance with the tenderness of surrounding trees. Natural materials such as wood, clay and stone are used for exterior and interior space. The building is placed along the topography to provide rhythmical natural figures and to explore the character of this location. Parking is accommodated under the half-basement of the slant, which protects the beautiful natural scenery. Visitors enjoy mineral hot springs in outdoor bath with cascade and large size bath. Operated by Fujiya Hotel at Miyanoshita, Hakone, this retreat receives urban residents of Tokyo and gives peaceful time and space in natural environment. It is so popular as to be always fully booked up.
